Scars of War

An Indie RPG by Gareth Fouche

Human (Venthir & Mulran)

Historical accounts suggest that two waves of early settlers, the Venthir and Mulran, arrived in the region now known as Athar within a decade of each other, Which was first to arrive is a matter of much debate amongst scholars.

As often happens, the settlers fought over resources and land, a conflict which would eventually see the predominantly Venthir northern tribes being forced further north into the mountains, to the lands they would name Koeth. The mostly Mulrani southern tribes would unify under the tyranny the Imarathi God-Sorcerers, who named their domain Athar (The Land), after the Mulran word for ground, Ath. Imarathi, incidentally, means 'Gods of the land' or 'Great spirits of the land'.

Although humans of Venthir descent mostly originate in Koeth and those of Mulran mostly in Athar, there are enough of the other group in each land to make a person of Venthir or Mulran ancestry unremarkable in either country. Only if a Koethan guard is actively seeking an Atharan spy, for example, will he pay more attention to those who descend from Mulrani stock.
